How to request deletion of your data

This page explains which personal data Y Patterns processes when you interact with us on Instagram or Facebook, and how you can have it deleted. It supplements our Privacy Policy, which applies in full.

What data we process through Instagram and Facebook

We run the Instagram account @y.patterns.design and the Facebook page "Y Patterns". When you comment on one of our posts, mention us, or send us a direct message, Meta Platforms Ireland Limited transmits the following data to our systems via its developer platform:

  • your Instagram or Facebook username and the platform's internal, account-specific identifier,
  • the content and time of your comment or message, and the post it refers to,
  • our replies to you and the technical status of their delivery.

We use this data solely to respond to you — for example with a single private reply to a comment, or within a conversation you started. If you apply as a pattern tester, the data you enter in the application form is additionally processed as described in the Privacy Policy. Technical logs of our automation are deleted automatically after 14 days.

How to request deletion

You can request deletion of all data we hold about you at any time and free of charge, in one of these ways:

  • Direct message on Instagram: send "Please delete my data" to @y.patterns.design from the account concerned. This also confirms that the request comes from the account holder.
  • Email: hello@y-patterns.com, subject "Data deletion request". Please state the Instagram or Facebook username the request refers to.
  • Contact form: y-patterns.com/pages/contact.

No reasons need to be given. If a request reaches us by email or contact form, we may ask you to confirm it with a short message from the Instagram or Facebook account concerned, so that nobody can have your data deleted without your consent.

What happens next

  • We confirm receipt of your request without undue delay.
  • We delete the data in all our systems within one month at the latest (Art. 12 (3), Art. 17 GDPR) and confirm the deletion to you, stating what was deleted.
  • Where data cannot be deleted yet — for example order data we must retain under tax law if you have bought from us — we tell you what is retained, why, and for how long. Such data is blocked from any other use.

What we cannot delete for you

Your comments and messages on Instagram or Facebook themselves are stored by Meta and are governed by Meta's terms. You can delete your own comments and conversations in the Instagram or Facebook app at any time; on request we also delete our side of the conversation with you.
